Partnerships & Recognition

Partnerships are central to TortureID’s work. We work with healthcare, voluntary sector, academic and professional partners to improve access for underserved survivors, strengthen clinical practice, share learning, and build evidence about what works.

Our partnerships help us work where survivors already come into contact with services. They also help us develop practical tools, improve training, test new approaches, and contribute to wider efforts to improve the identification and documentation of torture and other human rights abuses.

Please get in touch if you are interested in working with us.

Strategic partnerships and networks

In 2025, TortureID became a member of the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims, the largest global membership organisation specialising in the treatment and documentation of torture. TortureID is now one of four IRCT member organisations in the UK.

We also work with and learn alongside a range of organisations supporting refugees, people seeking asylum and survivors of torture and human rights abuses. Recent engagement has included Doctors of the World UK, Freedom from Torture, the Helen Bamber Foundation, Medical Justice, Solace, Refugee Action, the North East and Yorkshire Migrant Health Network, the Medico-Legal Report Writers’ Network, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists Working Group on Mental Health and Forced Migration.

Through these relationships, we share learning from our work on routine enquiry, health assessments, clinical documentation and training, and contribute to wider sector efforts to strengthen clinical responses to survivors.

Delivery partners

TortureID delivers health assessments in partnership with services working directly with refugees and people seeking asylum. Current and recent delivery has included projects in general practice in Huddersfield and Liverpool, and projects based with Refugee Action in Manchester and Solace in Leeds.

What Our Partners and Peers Say

“TortureID presented their work to over 70 GP practices in West Yorkshire. Their presentation really drove home to multiple front line practitioners the importance of embedding a trauma led response. It was very well received - thank you! TortureID's work closely aligns with strategic safeguarding partnership's priorities across Calderdale and Kirklees. These include professional curiosity, thinking holistically and as a family unit not just an individual.”

West Yorkshire ICB

“TortureID has had a very positive impact on the NHS through bringing clinical expertise of working with individuals seeking asylum and their understanding of the health inequalities and healthcare needs that they require specific support with to national design groups and ensuring these are included in national protocols that will set out the standards for delivery of care across England to this cohort of individuals."

Health & Justice Team, NHS England

"The TortureID service has been invaluable for the young people I work with. The reports are detailed and thorough and can be instrumental in an asylum or trafficking case, especially for vulnerable young people who do not have legal representation."

PAFRAS

"The work of TortureID is invaluable in meeting the health and protection needs of patients who have experienced human rights abuses. Jo Miller and the TortureID team bring a visionary approach to the complex challenge of supporting this patient group within busy primary care settings."

Freedom from Torture

"Refugee Action's partnership work with TortureID, over the past year, has been immensely impactful. Their vital interventions, during that time, have undoubtedly safeguarded a significant number of our most vulnerable service users."
